It gets better

This video has been going viral today at BYU, but I think it's important to share through as many outlets as possible.

It takes so much courage to admit to yourself and others something that you feel will bring hatred, prejudice, and despair upon yourself, and I respect these people so much for standing for what they believe in while coming to terms with who they are.  That takes a kind of strength I can't be sure that I have.

Some of the people in my very closest circle of friends are LGBT and I cannot express to you how wonderful each and every one of them are.  They are some of the greatest people I know.  They are loving, compassionate, smart, friendly, funny, and every good quality that there is.

If you are ever struggling or afraid that you won't be accepted, please know that you are safe with me.  I respect you and stand behind you 1000000%.

From painful personal experiences I have a fiercely strong personal philosophy that judging others without a full knowledge of their situation is wrong. And in this situation it is certainly no different.  Like the people in this video, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and one of our greatest teachings is to love everyone. Every single human being on earth was created and is loved by our Heavenly Father beyond anybody's capacity to understand.  What kind of person would I be if I were prejudiced against this group, when even Heavenly Father, their creator, is not?

It  is important to be open-minded and without judgment toward others, and it is possible to do so and still be a righteous person.

Please pass it on, and have a love-filled and marvelous weekend!

All my love, B.
