You CAN!

Hello readers!

I was sort of inspired to create this little page tonight, mostly because I feel like we all need a little pick-me-up sometimes.  So voilĂ ! My encouraging/inspiring/you can do it! page.

Here's just a collection of uplifting quotes, pictures and stories and such that I absolutely love. Some you'll have heard before, some will be new.

If you would like to submit a quote or story that you feel must be shared with the world to uplift and inspire, please send me an e-mail or comment below!

Not a direct quote, but a thought from my new Marriage and Family class.

The Law of Opposition says that you can only feel joy at the same level as you have the capacity to feel pain and sorrow.  Those who love big also hurt big.  So that's why so many people hold themselves back from the joy that they could potentially feel. They're afraid of the possible but not necessarily inevitable pain that might accompany.  But just look at it from the opposite point of view....if you have the capacity to have really low lows and really sorrowful sorrows, you also are SO ABLE TO FEEL JOY.   So don't be afraid! Good things are coming if you let them happen!

You can be excellent in every way.  You can be first class.  There is no need for you to be a scrub.  Respect yourself.  Do not feel sorry for yourself.  Do not dwell on unkind things others may say about you.  Polish and refine whatever talents the Lord has given you.  Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart.  Love life and look for its opportunities. ~Gordon B. Hinckley

(copied from today's post)

I watched these two videos this morning in my Living Prophets class and both brought tears to my eyes.
I just absolutely had to share.

They'll both be on my new you can page as well so you can watch them any time, but I definitely feel like they deserved their own post.

This is an uplifting message by quite possibly my newest favorite member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Russell M. Nelson.  Are you feeling inadequate? Slow, unworthy, or just having a bad day? Here's a priceless message that I'm sure can help change that.

Secondly, another beautiful video involving Russell M. Nelson.  While the message delivered by Joseph B. Wirthlin is indeed beautiful, what really struck me was that not too far into his talk, Wirthlin begins to shake uncontrollably and can barely get the words out that he needs to.  Nelson (a very successful doctor by profession) comes up behind him to offer support and comfort, so that the message our Heavenly Father intended us to hear could be successfully delivered.
(Start at around 5:45 or watch the entire thing-it will be 13 minutes well spent.)

How many days do you have when you have a big task ahead of you and you begin to falter? Sometimes all we need is a supporting hand.

How perfect this particular message ties into this very theme, as it is all about love and kindness.

There are people that love you and want nothing than the absolute best for you.
Never forget that.

All my love, B.

Received this story from my sweet friend Sydney this morning:

The other day at work, my coworker and I were complaining about boys.

Let's face it. We all have boy problems.

A few hours later, a different coworker stuck his head around the corner and said,

"Hey, can I give you some advice? Don't think too much. Things that are meant to be will be. Things that don't work out don't work out for a reason.

And you know what? If you never disappointed or unhappy, you would never know what real happiness was."

I took a step back from my life and realized, "Hey. Things aren't so bad after all. Everything is going to be okay."
So thank you, coworker, for reminding me that I just need to keep things in perspective and that all is going to be right with the world.

“Never under-estimate the far reaching influence of your testimony…you have the capacity to notice the unnoticed. When you have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to feel, you can reach out and rescue others.”-Thomas S. Monson

“There are times when we have to step into the darkness in faith, confident that God will place solid ground beneath our feet once we do.” –Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." -Mark Twain

"There are moments when, whatever be the attitude of the body, the soul is on its knees." -Victor Hugo

“At times the wisdom of God appears as being foolish or just too difficult, but one of the greatest and most valuable lessons we can learn in mortality is that when God speaks and a man obeys, that man will always be right.”-Thomas S. Monson

“'I the Lord will forgive whom I will forgive…of you it is required to forgive all men.’ May I add a footnote here? When the Lord requires that we forgive all men, that includes forgiving ourselves.  Sometimes, of all the people in the world, the one who is the hardest to forgive—as well as perhaps the one who is most in need of our forgiveness—is the person looking back at us in the mirror.”-Dieter F. Uchtdorf (two in one day-what a guy!)
